Statseeker’s network discovery process is used to identify which elements of your network are to be monitored by the Statseeker server. The process is driven by defined IP ranges or a hosts file indicating which elements of your network Statseeker has access to. The server then initiates communication with those elements of your network, retrieves configuration data from the device and begins polling for timeseries data.

This discovery process is available on-demand, but also runs on a configurable schedule. This automated discovery allows Statseeker to identify changes to your network infrastructure as they occur and to update polling requirements in response to those changes. Periodically, Statseeker will touch each known device to check for configuration changes and again, automatically updating polling requirements in response to those changes.

Statseeker discovery configuration is very flexible, offering a range of options to refine which elements of your network Statseeker will monitor and the scope of that monitoring, and also allowing for secure communications between Statseeker and your network infrastructure.
